Any idea what kind of activity it had, port 80, 25? I know I have gotten
hundreds of viruses since 8 AM today. Were you running an AV on the server that
could have filled a quarantine log?

nope, I just did a complete reinstall.
Didn' get any logs. ICN said my traffic started peaking at 9:00 or so,
it peeked out for a couple hours and then died.
I am guessing that is when my logs got full.

Did you pull the contents of /var/log/ before reinstall or is it all
gone.
Without that data it is hard to tell what happened. What kind of spike
were you
seeing? There are no open security issues that I know of, doesn't mean
that
there aren't though. The forums are clear of issues like you
describe.

Do you have any more specifics on what happened?

Quoting Chris Kuntzman <ckuntzman@taylorvilleschools.com>:
I think my esmith got hacked last night. It started spiking at 9:00
and
finally died at midnight.
I have reinstalled and am somewhat up and running.
I have 5.6 running with the update 6.
Has anyone seen or heard of any viruses or hacks that could have
caused
it?
Thanks
Chris
